This is better coverage than The New York Times.... Thanks, Harriet. And who knew Sarko could be a hero? I guess the law of averages means he has to do something right and good some of the time. After all, Hitler did love his dogs.
Thank you, Mark. Loved your first line. Great compliment. Re Sarko, I guess one can say that people are multi-faceted. Another Sarko anecdote from my years in Neuilly: We had these town meetings and one of them concerned the thorny problem of admitting low cost housing in our posh suburb. The natives weren't having it but Sarko got up there and told the 500 people attending (all of them well-heeled) that they were "salauds" and "egotists" and that there was no question of not going through with the plan. They'd just have to suck it up and be nice to the newcomers as well. It was not in his interest. He was courageous on that occasion as well. I point all these things out because we live in such a divisive world where everything is black and white. Some things - not Hitler, but I do not see Sarko as Hitler - have other hues.

Harriet, it’s always a pleasure to read your words. I really enjoyed the Sarko saga!
Ah, Sarko..We used to call him Sark the Shark! (Forgot to put that in the article).
I'd forgotten the Sarko the hero story Thanks for the reminder!
You're welcome! I remember it well as I was "on site".
A joyful meander, as always!
Thanks, Jen!
